About Astronomynoteq
An Advisory Built for Eldoret's Asset-Owning Generation
Astronomynoteq was established to provide the kind of independent, risk-managed capital protection guidance that was previously available only to clients of large Nairobi-based institutions.
What Astronomynoteq Does — and for Whom
A plain-language account of our work and our client base.
Astronomynoteq is a capital protection advisory based in Eldoret, Kenya. We work with individuals, family offices, and mid-sized businesses that have accumulated meaningful assets and need structured, independent guidance to preserve them. Our clients are not looking for the highest possible return at any cost; they are looking to ensure that accumulated capital survives market dislocations, business liability events, and generational transitions without being materially eroded. We serve clients primarily in the Rift Valley region, with a number of Nairobi-based clients who engage us specifically because of our independence from the large brokerage networks concentrated in the capital. A typical client holds a mix of listed securities, fixed-income instruments, real property, and a business interest — and has not previously had a single advisor responsible for viewing these assets as an integrated whole. That is the gap we fill: coherent oversight of the full balance sheet, not piecemeal advice on individual products. Our service scope covers four disciplines — risk management, insurance wrappers, capital structures, and fiduciary advisory — and we engage across all four or on a single discipline depending on what the analysis shows is needed.
How We Work, What We Value, and Where We Draw the Line
Our process, our principles, and the limits you should know about before engaging.
Astronomynoteq was founded in 2017 by a team with backgrounds in institutional investment risk, insurance regulation, and corporate legal structuring. Since then we have advised on over 60 mandates, established 14 formal holding structures, and placed insurance wrappers covering assets exceeding KSh 800 million in aggregate. Our process is diagnostic-first: every engagement begins with a comprehensive audit before any recommendation is made. We write down our reasoning in every case, and clients receive a written mandate document specifying the scope, the fee, the deliverables, and the renewal terms before any work commences. We do not offer discretionary asset management — we are not licensed as a collective investment scheme manager and we do not hold or control client assets at any point. We do not guarantee specific financial outcomes; capital markets involve risk that no adviser can eliminate. Where a recommendation depends on legal or tax treatment, we coordinate with qualified Kenyan lawyers and accountants but we defer to them on matters within their professional scope. We also do not take on mandates where we judge the client's objectives to be unrealistic relative to their risk tolerance — we would rather lose a mandate than set an expectation we cannot meet honestly. That discipline has sustained a 97% client retention rate over five years and remains the foundation of how Astronomynoteq operates.
